The Katsina Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Services (NCS) has vowed to provide free medical services to pupils of Hassan Usman Science Primary School.

The Controller of the Area Command, Comptroller Abba-Aji Idris, disclosed this Tuesday while donating learning and instructional materials to the pupils and management of the school.

He directed the pupils and teachers of the primary school located adjacent the Area Command to always go to its clinic for free medical services whenever the need arises.

He said the free medical services would strengthen the synergy between the NCS and the management of the school by enhancing trade facilitation and ensuring the efficiency of healthcare delivery.

He emphasised that the NCS will continue to inculcate in the minds of the school children the danger of smuggling and its adverse effects on the nation’s economy.

Idris said: “You know you can’t ever rule out children with minor injuries. That is why we asked them to come to our clinic for free medical services. We have trained doctors and nurses that are also working with us.

“So, with this, if for any reason, emergency cases, we will attend to them. We will also educate them on the hazards of smuggling and its effect on the economy not only now but in the future.”

On the donation of exercise books, whiteboard, pens and pencils to the pupils and the school management, Comptroller Idris noted that the gesture was aimed at ameliorating the plight of the school children and boosting educational standards in the state.

Receiving the educational materials, the Katsina State Local Government Education Secretary, Dr. Halima Umar, appreciated the NCS for its benevolence and kind gesture to the pupils.

She said the materials will be put to good use for the teaching of the pupils, adding that the pupils and teachers of the school will also benefit greatly from the NSC free medical services.
