Cross River State Justice Ministry Partners TPTA, The Law Crest LLP As 143 Public Sector Lawyers Complete Intensive Five-Day Training Programme

The Practical Training Academy Ltd/Gte (TPTA) and The Law Crest LLP, in collaboration with the Cross River State Ministry of Justice, successfully delivered a specialised five-day training programme for public sector legal practitioners between 1st and 5th December 2025.

The bespoke programme, titled “Public Law Office Training,” was meticulously crafted to equip participants with advanced skills in public sector lawyering, blending theoretical insights with hands-on workshops and interactive sessions. Attendees, comprising staff from the Ministry of Justice, praised the initiative for its relevance and practicality, with feedback highlighting its role in addressing real-world challenges in legal service delivery.

At the heart of the programme was a collaboratively developed training manual, spearheaded by the Honourable Attorney General of Cross River State, Mr. Ededem Ani Esq., and his dynamic team, in close consultation with TPTA’s leadership under Mr. Tobenna Erojikwe. This synergy ensured the curriculum was finely tuned to the unique demands of public legal practice in Cross River State, fostering a localized yet globally informed approach.

The training unfolded progressively, kicking off with core modules on the structure and functions of public legal offices. It then delved into advanced topics such as international best practices in public sector lawyering and leveraging technology for efficient legal office management. Key sessions explored critical areas including criminal procedure, data protection compliance, contract law essentials, procurement protocols, public-private partnership models, civil litigation tactics, legislative drafting techniques, taxation fundamentals, and administrative law principles. Each module emphasized actionable strategies, enabling participants to bridge knowledge gaps and enhance their day-to-day efficacy.

Enriching the discourse were insights from a stellar lineup of UK and Nigerian legal luminaries, whose diverse expertise elevated the programme:

  • Sheila Saunders, Director-level UK public sector lawyer
  • Prof. Paul Idornijie SAN
  • Victor Opara SAN
  • Tola Oshobi SAN
  • Folabi Kuti SAN
  • Saheed Adebisi Quadri
  • Tobenna Erojikwe
  • Professor Danwanka Shuaibu
  • Dr. Jude Odinkonigbo
  • Rotimi Ogunyemi
  • Oluchi Uchegbu
  • Olatunji Muritala

This high-caliber faculty not only shared cutting-edge knowledge but also inspired participants to adopt innovative, ethical practices in their roles.

The collaboration underscores a strategic commitment to elevating public sector legal services in Cross River State, positioning the Ministry of Justice as a forward-thinking hub for justice administration.
