A couple in the United States has avoided prison time after pleading guilty in connection with the drowning death of their infant son.

Degary Burbridge and Kiara Nettles were each sentenced to 90 days at the River City Correctional Center, along with five years of probation, following the incident in Cincinnati.

According to Hamilton County Prosecutor Connie Pillich, the tragedy occurred in May 2025 when the couple allegedly left their infant son unattended in a baby bathtub filled with water.

Prosecutors said a third individual later inquired about the child, prompting the parents to check on him. The baby was found face down and unresponsive.

The couple initially faced involuntary manslaughter charges, but those were later dropped as part of a plea agreement.
