Couple Arrested in Poland After 9-Month-Old Baby Tests Positive for Cocaine

Kraków, Poland — A husband and wife have been arrested after their 9-month-old baby tested positive for cocaine, leading police to a shocking discovery at their makeshift home.

Authorities say the couple was found living in a small, freezing hut on an allotment, with no hot water and poor sanitary conditions.

Police had initially been searching for the 33-year-old man, who was linked to a fraud gang that scammed elderly victims by posing as police officers.

During the operation, detectives learned that the man had previously been sentenced to a year in prison and was wanted for multiple property-related offences. To evade capture, he had reportedly been moving from place to place until his arrest on October 9, when officers finally located him, his wife, and their baby.

When police raided the hut, they uncovered packages of drugs hidden inside a sofa, along with over 2 kilograms of marijuana, cocaine, and mephedrone. Officers also seized electronic scales, mobile phones, and bundles of cash.

At the time of their arrest, both parents were said to be under the influence of cocaine and marijuana.

The couple has since been charged with participation in an organized criminal group, drug trafficking, and endangering the life or health of a child. They were remanded in custody following their appearance before prosecutors in Tarnów.

A spokesperson for the Małopolska Police confirmed the arrests and said: “Investigators are now working to determine where the man obtained the drugs.

“Where they were distributed, and how many people fell victim to (the couple’s) scams.

“Further arrests have not been ruled out.”
