Cinema: Behind The Scenes, Everybody Loves Jenifa, Sinners lead top 10 revenue chart in 2025

Funke Akindele’s movies, Behind The Scenes, and Everybody Loves Jenifa, together with the American movie Sinners, have led the revenue chart in the Nigerian cinemas in 2025. The development rounds up a 2025 that saw an increase in ticket sales, Cinema admissions and revenue growth.

According to a post made on Tuesday by the Nigerian Box Office (NBO), the top 10 highest-grossing films covered the period from January to December 2025. The compilation is based on reports of revenue from ticket sales at physical cinema locations nationwide during the year.

For the Nigerian movie industry and NBO, 2025 was a landmark year that saw an increase in acceptance of Nollywood movies by Nigerians due to improved performance, quality and ability to capture moments.

For instance, the box office had generated N10.03 billion in ticket sales as of August 2025, a 56.9% increase over the same period in 2024. Year-end figures were expected to reach a total of approximately N15 billion.

Revenue growth was largely driven by a 35.6% jump in the average ticket price, from an average of N4,019 in 2024 to N5,449 in 2025. Also, Cinema admissions saw a growth of about 15.7% through August, a testament to how the market successfully repositioned cinema as a premium experience.

The top 10 grossing films in Nigeria in 2025 are a stack of performances and improved shift of pleasure by Nigerians.
