Christian is rich, and really wants to kick FTR & Stokely’s asses

Like my friend Kyle, I’ve gone from “that’s it?” to “that’s it!” on Adam Copeland and Christian Cage’s reunion. Watching those old friends act like they were still in their 20s or 30s, playing kazoos and taping signs on people’s backs? That could have gotten downright depressing after an episode or two. But their heel/face odd couple routine (which, based on my many hours listening to E&C’s Pod of Awesomeness, and a few watching The Edge and Christian Show That Totally Reeks of Awesomeness, isn’t too far from their legit dynamic) has turned out to be pretty great… and might even have some legs.

Time, and the 51-year-olds’ health, will determine that. On AEW’s September to Remember special last night (Sept. 17), Cage & Cope sent it home for this Saturday afternoon on PPV at All Out. They did so with the men they’ll be facing in their hometown of Toronto, FTR’s Dax Harwood & Cash Wheeler and their manager Stokely Hathaway.

In the segment, Harwood returned the favor his old NXT co-worker Alexa Bliss did for Athena at Homecoming and name-dropped some of their old rivals from WWE’s black-and-gold brand like Enzo & Cass, American Alpha, and #DIY:

After his partner delivered an earnest-sounding speech that’s ultimate point was how much more popular he is than the Top Guys, Cage responded to the threat of $100K AEW fines for getting physical before All Out, and Hathaway’s promise to sue for half-a-million if they touched him at September to Remember. Christian said:

“Let’s be honest, $100,000 is a lot of money. And $500,000, Stokely, with that kind of money, you might actually be able to get yourself some hoes… $500,000 doesn’t mean a damn to me, cause I’m rich.”
