The Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, is to present a Certificate of Registration to a breakaway group of the Academic Staff Union of Universities. 

The Congress of Nigerian University Academics, CONUA, broke away from ASUU in 2018 after some disagreements two years earlier.

The ASUU rival group has been mounting pressure on the federal government to register it, in the belief that it already met all the conditions for registration. 

The Minister will this afternoon formally present the certificate to CONUA, an academic staff union in Nigeria's university system. 

CONUA believes the strike is not the only way out to resolve disputes.
