Chelsea have pulled out of Nicolas Jackson’s proposed loan move to Bayern Munich, according to Sky Sports.

Bayern were informed the deal could not proceed after Liam Delap picked up an injury against Fulham on Saturday.

The decision was made following discussions between Chelsea’s football leadership team and head coach Enzo Maresca.

Jackson will now return to London and rejoin the first-team squad. He had been training with the team throughout, with the possibility of staying at the club still on the table.

The 24-year-old forward signed a contract extension last September that ties him to Stamford Bridge until 2033.

Speaking after Chelsea’s win over Fulham, Maresca explained, “When you have two strikers, it’s enough. When one is injured, it probably is not enough.”

Chelsea had agreed to a record £13m loan fee with Bayern, which included an option to buy Jackson for £56.2m.
