Called, but not alone: New Antioch21 initiative offers community for those pursuing long-term missions

A long-term missions call rarely begins with a plane ticket and a destination.

Long before someone crosses a geographical border with the Good News, there is often a season of discerning, learning and asking: Is this really where God is calling me?

The process of discerning and preparing can also be, at times, a lonely one.

As such, when the Lord gave Jethro Koh a heart to better serve those called to missions, he asked: “How can we prepare to send missionaries in a way that is more about community, rather than programmes?”

Jethro Koh sharing about Antioch Incubate on the last day of the Antioch Summit.

The answer came in the form of Antioch Incubate, an 11-month journey that brings together people pursuing a long-term, cross-cultural missions call – from those discerning their calling to those returning from the field.

Launched at the recent Antioch Summit 2026 (October 1 to 3), the ecosystem aims to help those with a missions call “find clarity and belonging, refine their path and cultivate their mission call, as they progress towards and into the field”, said Jethro, who started this initiative under Antioch21.

A community for the journey

Running from January to November 2027, the first iteration of Antioch Incubate will comprise community events and small group gatherings.

The community events will focus on worship, teachings, agency networking and missions panels, while small group gatherings will allow for a more intimate setting, with facilitated life-mapping, prayer and reflections with experienced missions mentors.

Additionally, those involved can attend Antioch21’s interest workshops and events happening throughout the year, on a separate sign-up basis.

There will also be opportunities for participants to live out their call to the nations through short- and medium-term mission trips.

Among other goals, Antioch Incubate hopes to cultivate a tight-knit community of believers who spur one another on towards cross-cultural deployment.

Through these happenings, Antioch Incubate hopes to:

  • Empower those with a long-term call to missions by providing space and guidance for them to process and sharpen their individual assignments,
  • Cultivate a tight-knit community of like-minded believers who spur one another on towards cross-cultural deployment, while strengthening their local churches and ministries, and
  • Mobilise participants for the field by connecting them with established missions agencies for short- and medium-term field attachments.

Taking the stage at the closing session of this year’s Antioch Summit, Jethro shared that the Lord had convicted him and his wife, Heather, of the urgency of this assignment.

“He started to show me that now is the time to mobilise,” he said. “Now is the time for Singapore to rise up, to step out of its comfort zone and enter the nations.”
