Bugatti Canceled A 'MegaWatt' Veyron To Build The Chiron Instead

When Bugatti launched the Chiron in 2016, the only real carry-over part from the Veyron was its 8.0-liter W16 engine. With the new car, though, Bugatti made some serious improvements to that engine. Enough to give it 1,479 horsepower instead of the paltry 1,183 hp of the Veyron Super Sport and Grand Sport Vitesse models it replaced.
