By Emmanuel Kwada

In a surprise and statesmanlike move, Hamisu Idris Medugu, popularly known as Sardauna Madagali, has formally announced his decision to step aside from the 2027 Senatorial ambition for Adamawa North Senatorial District.

In a statement released on Wednesday, Hamisu Idris cited the interest of peace, unity, and the collective progress of the All Progressive Congress (APC) and Adamawa State as the primary reasons for his withdrawal.

“I wish to formally announce my decision to step aside from my senatorial ambition of Adamawa North in the interest of peace, unity, and the collective progress of our great party and Adamawa State at large,” he said.

The former aspirant emphasized that the decision was not borne out of weakness but from deep reflection, loyalty, and commitment to the stability and development of the state.

“Politics should never divide us. At this critical moment, unity, understanding and cooperation remain more important than personal ambition,” Hamisu Idris stated.

He declared his full support for the vision and leadership of Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, noting that backing the governor’s efforts would further strengthen peace and developmental strides across Adamawa State.

The Sardauna Madagali appealed to his supporters, political associates, friends, and well-wishers to remain calm and united, urging them to continue supporting initiatives aimed at moving Adamawa North and the entire state forward.

“Leadership is about sacrifice, maturity and putting the people first. My commitment to the growth of our people and the development of Adamawa North remains unwavering,” he added.

He concluded the statement with a prayer: “May Almighty God continue to bless Adamawa State and guide us toward greater unity and prosperity.”

This development is expected to significantly reshape the political landscape in Adamawa North ahead of the next general elections, with observers describing the move as a demonstration of political maturity and party loyalty.
