Lashley hasn’t wrestled or appeared on television since May. He was scheduled to compete in the King of the Ring tournament that month but was ruled out before a first-round match against Tama Tonga. SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis informed fans that Lashley had been injured during training and wasn’t cleared to compete.

The details of Lashley’s injury weren’t revealed, but his Instagram video shows it was an arm injury. In the video, Lashley wears a compression sleeve on his left arm while doing exercises. He ends the video with a positive message, saying, “I feel great. The arm’s getting back strong. But I needed this setback so the comeback could be so much greater.”

In late July, questions arose regarding Lashley’s future in WWE. Reports indicated that the 48-year-old’s contract was expiring soon. While in London, Chief Content Officer Paul Levesque was asked about the potential departures of Lashley and his former on-screen manager Montel Vontavious Porter. Said Levesque, “Just like any sport or business, we sign talent, their contracts run out, and we release talent. It’s part of the process. It’s ongoing.”

Wherever and whenever Lashley appears next, he’ll likely be as strong as ever and a solid addition to any promotion’s roster.
