Best TV for PS5 2026: Our picks for gaming on the Sony PS5

If you’ve got a PS5 and want the best gaming performance you can get from a TV, we’ve gone through our reviews and sorted out which models you should take a closer look at.

What marks the PS5 as different from Xbox and PC is that it has features that are specifically tied to it and Sony Bravia TVs. These features are branded as Perfect for PS5.

They support features such as Auto Genre Picture Mode, which recognises when you’re playing a gaming and switches the TV into game mode, and then switches back to the Standard mode if you start watching iPlayer or Disney+.

The Auto HDR Tone Mapping feature calibrates the HDR performance of the display with the PS5 to bring out the best performance in terms of brightness, contrast and black levels.

But not every has or wants a Sony Bravia TV, so we’ve included other models and our picks for certain sizes to provide a variety of options.

We also have a general list for the best gaming TVs. For a list broader than just gaming-specific, visit our best TVs and best cheap TVs guides instead.

How we test TVs

Every TV we review is put through the same set of tests to gauge its picture performance, usability, and smart features.

Tests are carried out over several days and are done by eye but supported with technical measurements. Testing by eye involves an expert watching a wide range of material to understand and determine a TV’s performance in fields such as brightness, contrast, motion processing, colour handling and screen uniformity.

We’ll consider the design of the TV in terms of build quality, study the spec sheets and see if the TV’s connections are up to spec, as well as playing video and audio content to ensure that the set handles playback as it claims. We also take note whether a product’s compatible formats and features are in line with industry trends or not to gauge whether it’s relevant for you.

Comparison to other related and similarly priced products is also important, to see if it’s missing any vital features and whether it impresses as a whole. After all this, we’ll come to a judgement on how the TV performs as a whole.
