Bandits ambush troop’s convoy in Sokoto, k!ll four soldiers

Gunmen suspected to be bandits ambushed troops of the Nigerian Army in Gudu Local Government Area of Sokoto State, k!lling four soldiers.  Four others were also injured during the attack which occurred on Saturday, August 10, 2024.  The sole administrator of the council, Umar Balle, confirmed the incident to punch on Sunday.   Balle, who was among those ambushed by the bandits, escaped the assault by the whiskers. He said so far, four soldiers d!ed, and seven others were wounded as a result of gunshots in addition to the burning of their vehicle The injured security personnel were initially attended to at Gudu General Hospital before they were referred to the Usmanu Danfodiyo Teaching Hospital Sokoto.  Also confirming the attack, the member representing Gudu at the state House of Assembly, Yahya Gudu, said the assailants burnt down two patrol vehicles of the operatives.  "Yes, it is truth. Some gunmen ambushed soldiers on patrol along the Kukurau-Bangi road on Saturday and k!lled four of them while two others were injured. They also burnt down their patrol vehicles, he said. It was further gathered that more security personnel had already been deployed to the area as a result of the incident. A resident, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the bandits were seen passing through their area on 20 motorcycles. Each motorcycle was carrying two well armed bandits. They didnt touch or kidnap anybody in our community. They just passed and the next thing we heard were sounds of gunshots," he said. It was later that, we discovered they laid an ambush for the security operatives patrolling the area and killed four of them.
