Bajaj Auto has expanded its electric scooter lineup in India with the launch of the new Bajaj Chetak C2501, priced at ₹91,399 (ex-showroom, Bengaluru). This makes the C2501 the most accessible model in the Chetak family yet, designed for urban commuters who want a stylish, efficient and budget-friendly electric ride.

Under the floorboard sits a 2.5 kWh lithium-ion battery pack that drives a hub-mounted motor, producing a peak power output suited for everyday commuting. This setup delivers a claimed riding range of 113 km on a full charge, making it competitive with other budget EVs in its segment. The battery can be topped up from 0-80 % in about 2 hours 25 minutes and fully charged in approximately 3 hours 45 minutes using the standard off-board charger.

Performance is tuned for city use, with the C2501 offering a claimed top speed of 55 km/h across its two ride modes – Eco and Sport. The scooter is built on a new chassis that’s lighter than the existing Chetak EVs, giving it a kerb weight of around 108 kg and a seat height that’s easy to manage for riders of all sizes.

Design-wise, the C2501 retains the familiar neo-retro Chetak styling but with fresh touches that give it a youthful appeal. It features a round LED headlight with integrated DRLs, an upswept rear panel with a modern LED taillight, and sleek body panels that distinguish it from the higher-end Chetak variants. The scooter is also offered in six vibrant colour options that enhance its urban character.

Inside, the C2501 doesn’t skimp on features despite its lower price tag. Riders get a reverse-LCD instrument panel, Bluetooth connectivity for call and music alerts, a USB charging port, hill-hold assist for uphill starts, and a handy reverse function that adds convenience in tight parking spots. Underseat capacity stands at a practical 25 litres, enough for daily essentials.

The suspension setup consists of a telescopic fork and twin shock absorbers, paired with a front disc brake, which helps deliver stable handling on uneven city roads. These mechanical tweaks contribute to a balanced ride quality that’s comfortable for daily commuting.
