Bafana Bafana under more pressure than Super Eagles – Udeze

Former Nigeria international Ifeanyi Udeze has insisted that South Africa’s Bafana Bafana will be under greater pressure when they host the Super Eagles in Bloemfontein on Tuesday.

The two sides meet in a crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier (Group C, matchday 8), with Nigeria looking to build on their 1-0 victory over Rwanda in Uyo on Saturday.

Speaking on Brila FM, Udeze said the Super Eagles can approach the game with confidence, while the South Africans face the weight of expectation.

“The South Africans are under more pressure than the Super Eagles. They will be playing in front of their fans, they know they are topping the group, and also the issue of the three points deduction is there,” Udeze stated.

“So, for me, I believe they are more under pressure and I expect our players to go there, play as a team, and do all they can to get the result.”

The Super Eagles will, however, be without talisman Victor Osimhen, who sustained an injury in the win against Rwanda.

Udeze urged Tolu Arokodare and Cyriel Dessers to seize the opportunity to prove themselves as capable replacements.

“With Osimhen out of the game, this is another opportunity for Arokodare and Dessers to step in and show they are capable replacements,” the former defender added.
