Apple Unveils iPhone Air: The Thinnest iPhone Yet

Apple has officially unveiled the iPhone Air, its thinnest iPhone yet, measuring just 5.6mm. Despite its slim profile, Apple promises “pro performance in a thin and light design.” The device combines cutting-edge power with a sleek new look, setting a fresh benchmark for iPhone design.

Ultra-Thin and Durable Design

Weighing just 165 grams, the iPhone Air features a 6.5-inch ProMotion display with a refresh rate of up to 120Hz and an impressive 3,000 nits peak brightness. Apple says this is its most durable iPhone yet, protected by a ceramic shield that encloses a titanium frame on both sides.

A19 Pro Chip and New Modem

The iPhone Air debuts the A19 Pro processor, Apple’s most powerful chip to date, alongside a new C1x modem, which is twice as fast as its predecessor. It also introduces Apple’s N1 chip design, supporting Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and Thread, making it one of the most future-ready iPhones ever.

Battery Life and eSIM Only

Despite its ultra-thin build, Apple promises all-day battery life up to 27 hours of video playback or 40 hours with the $99 iPhone Air MagSafe battery. To maximize internal space, the iPhone Air supports only eSIMs. With iOS 26’s new adaptive power mode, the phone becomes even more efficient.

Dual Fusion Camera System

Photography sees a major upgrade with the 48MP Dual Fusion system, paired with a 12MP telephoto lens. A new feature lets users record video with both front and rear cameras at the same time, perfect for vlogging and reactions. The 18MP selfie camera now supports Center Stage, ensuring everyone fits into group shots without rotating the phone.

iOS 26 and New Accessories

Launching alongside iOS 26 on September 15th, the iPhone Air introduces a Liquid Glass design language—a modern interface with transparent, bubbly elements. Accessories include a MagSafe case and a reinforced bumper case, both compatible with a new crossbody strap.

Pricing and Availability

The iPhone Air starts at $999 for the 256GB model. Preorders open on September 12th, with official availability on September 19th. The device comes in black, white, beige, and light blue color options.
