Bengaluru will host Anthropic’s first developer event in India on October 11, in partnership with Accel. The invite-only AI Dev Day will bring together CTOs, product leaders, and founders to explore Anthropic’s newly launched model, Claude Sonnet 4.5.

“Looking forward to hosting our friends from Anthropic in Namma Bengaluru! On the heels of the latest Claude model – their first developer event in India,” said Prayank Swaroop, partner at Accel, in a LinkedIn post

According to Accel, the event will feature a roadmap keynote, technical sessions, and a developer showcase. “From a deep-dive into the newly launched Claude Sonnet 4.5, Anthropic’s most advanced reasoning and coding model, to scaling with its APIs, this event promises high-value discussions at the frontier of AI,” Accel said in a LinkedIn post.

As part of the event, developers in India are invited to build new projects using Claude Code or the Claude API. Submissions must include a three-minute demo video, a 300-word description, and a GitHub repository or app link.

Accel outlined the focus area for projects as Enterprise Agents and Vertical Copilots, targeting industries such as fintech, healthcare, logistics, and compliance. Projects must be new builds or contain substantial new features.

The top three projects will win $2,500 each in Claude credits and the opportunity to demo live at the event. Second and third place winners will receive $1,500 and $1,000 credits, respectively. The top 50 submissions will receive an in-person invite to the event.

Moreover, according to recent reports, Anthropic plans to establish a presence in India as it expands globally, facing growing competition from OpenAI, Google, Microsoft, and Meta. The company is looking to hire a country lead for India, as well as for markets including Australia and New Zealand, Korea, and Singapore, Chief Commercial Officer Paul Smith told CNBC.

India represents 7.2% of global Claude usage, making it Anthropic’s second-largest market after the US, which accounts for 21.6%.

On September 26, Anthropic announced plans to triple its international workforce and increase its applied AI team fivefold this year to meet rising demand for its Claude AI models outside the United States.
