Andre Onana’s Message to Man Utd Fans Draws Criticism from Liverpool Legend

Don Hutchison, a former Liverpool midfielder, has expressed his disappointment with Manchester United goalkeeper, Andre Onana, for his recent message to the club’s fans before the start of the season.

In a recent interview with the Telegraph, the Cameroon international informed Red Devils’ supporters to anticipate him taking more risks in the upcoming matches.

Onana, known for his skillful footwork, is believed by many to have earned the starting goalkeeper position over club legend David de Gea due to this ability.

Prior to the new season, Onana stated, “Yes, that’s me [taking risks]. And I think it’s what you’re going to see this season because I will take a lot of risks.”

In response, Hutchison expressed to ESPN, “It’s absurd, that’s what it is. What does Andre Onana gain from making such statements?

“If you’re an opposing forward – especially a young and inexperienced player, as the seasoned ones would have figured him out by now – and you see Onana attempting a risky move, you won’t fall for it.

“You’ll stay composed and simply take the ball away from him. So I assume Ten Hag is thinking, ‘Why on earth did you say that?’ The player gains nothing except maybe a boost in confidence, so it’s a nonsensical and poor statement.”
