  • Volkswagen has released additional information about the US-spec ID. Buzz.
  • The electric van will be offered in three well-equipped trims.
  • Rear-wheel drive comes standard, although higher-end variants offer an available dual-motor all-wheel drive system.

The Microbus is almost back as Volkswagen has released launch details for the 2025 ID. Buzz. While the company is keeping U.S. pricing under wraps, they confirmed the model will be offered in three different trims including an exclusive 1st Edition.

Starting with the entry-level ID. Buzz Pro S, the van comes nicely equipped with keyless access and 20-inch alloy wheels. Buyers will also find power-sliding rear doors and a power liftgate.

Moving inside, there’s a colorful interior with a 5.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12.9-inch infotainment system. They’re joined by a wireless smartphone charger, a 30-color ambient lighting system, and a second-row bench that enables the van to accommodate up to seven passengers.

Buyers will also find 12-way power front seats with perforated leatherette upholstery as well as heating, ventilation, and massage functions. Other highlights include a heated steering wheel, heated second-row seats, and an automatic climate control system.

Power comes from a 91 kWh battery pack, which feeds a rear-mounted motor developing 282 hp (210 kW / 286 PS) and 406 lb-ft (550 Nm) of torque.

Moving up the trim ladder is the ID. Buzz Pro S Plus. It features additional equipment including a head-up display, a surround view monitor, and a nine-speaker Harman/Kardon premium audio system. Buyers will also find a manually-retractable tow hitch and an available electrochromic panoramic glass roof, which can change from transparent to opaque with the swipe of a finger. A second-row bench comes standard, but captain’s chairs are also available.

Besides being better equipped, the Pro S Plus is available with a dual-motor all-wheel drive system. It increases the output to 335 hp (250 kW / 340 PS).

Last but not least is the 1st Edition, which features a two-tone exterior and unique 20-inch wheels. They’re joined by special badging, an electrochromic glass roof, and a roof rack. Buyers will also find a coastal-inspired interior with retro floor mats and a Flexboard, which creates a flat floor when the seats are folded and has storage space for two fabric bins. On top of that, buyers will receive special “owner’s gifts.”

Regardless of which trim is selected, all ID. Buzz models come with a host of standard driver assistance systems. Volkswagen didn’t go into many specifics, but noted customers will find Travel Assist, traffic sign recognition, and Park Assist Plus with Memory Parking. The model also has an ID. Light system, which is an illuminated strip beneath the windshield that “pulses to signal status such as readiness to drive, turn instructions from the navigation system, brake prompts from driver assistance systems, and incoming phone calls.”

Getting back to styling, the van will be offered in a variety of different colors including Candy White, Deep Black Pearl, and Metro Silver. There will also be two-tone options that see a Candy White roof paired with an Energetic Orange, Pomelo Yellow, Blue Charcoal, Mahi Green, Metro Silver, Cabana Blue or Indium Grey body.

The colorful design continues in the cabin thanks to three different themes. Moonlight is a “moody dark interior” that has dark brown leatherette seats with white piping, blue door inserts, and a dark wood-look dash. Dune is a coastal-inspired theme that “pairs light grey leatherette seats with clay-colored piping, clay door inserts, and a light wood-look dash.” Lastly, there’s a Copper interior that has “rich brown leatherette seats with yellow piping, brown door inserts, and a washed wood-look dash.”
