The lawmaker representing AMAC/Bwari Federal Constituency of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) at the National Assembly, has resigned from the Labour Party (LP) and joined the All Progressives Congress (APC). This announcement was made by Amb. Emenike Egbusunwa, his Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, in a press release on Saturday.

Hon. Obika’s decision to leave the Labour Party is part of his effort to further his commitment to effective representation and national development. He has joined the APC, citing the need for continued contribution to the country’s progress.

In a significant move, Hon. Obika has launched a new grassroots movement, “Grassroot Movement for Good Governance (GMGG)”. The initiative aims to promote transparency, accountability, and good governance, benefiting his constituents and the nation.

The GMGG movement is expected to deepen engagement with communities at the grassroots level, supporting policies and programs that enhance effective representation and improve living conditions for residents in AMAC, Bwari, and the wider FCT.

Hon. Obika’s defection marks a significant political development within Abuja’s political landscape, particularly in AMAC and Bwari Area Councils, where political realignments continue to shape grassroots mobilization and party structures.

The APC FCT Geo-political Zones Forum has welcomed Hon. Obika, urging him to contribute to the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
