AJ Lee shares pride & gratitude in first comments on WWE return match at Wrestlepalooza

Her first match in 10-and-a-half years is in the books, and AJ Lee is getting high marks from inside and outside the industry for her work in mixed tag action with her husband CM Punk (real name Phil Brooks, and the reason I’m reminding you of this will be clear in a moment) against Becky Lynch (Rebecca Quin) and Seth Rollins (Colby Lopez) at WWE Wrestlepalooza this past Saturday night in Indianapolis.

With a day-and-a-half or so to process the experience, Lee (real name April Mendez) posted some great photos from her night to Instagram, along with a message:

A chaotic fairytale so far. I’m proud of myself for being scared but doing it anyway, after ten years of retirement, on one month’s notice. I guess I still got it. I’m so grateful to Rebecca, Colby, Jess, TJ, and my hot husband Phil for taking such good care of me. And Larry for sharing his dressing room. I’m feeling all the love and support from you guys, my wonderful weirdos, it means the world.

We smartened you up on Phil, Rebecca, and Colby’s secret identities above. Jess would be Jessika Carr, the referee of Sept. 20’s match. TJ is presumably the former Tyson Kidd, trainer and WWE producer extraordinaire TJ Wilson.

Me, I’m still marking out about the Big E reunion pic. And in case you missed it… yes, on the Wrestlepalooza post-show AJ gave him crap about cracking her sternum during their entrance with Dolph Ziggler back in 2013…
