Afghanistan earthquake: Death toll crosses 1,400; rescuers scramble for survivors

A devastating 6.0 magnitude earthquake in eastern Afghanistan has claimed over 1,400 lives and injured more than 3,100, according to a Taliban government spokesman. The quake, which struck late Sunday, destroyed thousands of homes in Kunar province. Rescue efforts are hampered by difficult terrain.
