AFCON 2025: Cameroonian Referee to officiate Nigeria–Mozambique clash

The Confederation of African Football has appointed Cameroonian official Abdou Abdel Mefir as the centre referee for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations Round of 16 fixture between Nigeria Super Eagles and Mozambique Mambas.

Mefir will be supported by his compatriots Elvis Noupoue and Carine Atezambong as assistant referees.

The knockout encounter is scheduled to take place at the Complexe Sportif de Fès on Monday, with kick-off set for 8:00 pm Nigeria time.

Monday’s match will be the sixth meeting between the two nations, with Nigeria holding the upper hand in the head-to-head record. The Super Eagles have won four previous encounters, while one ended in a draw.

Their only previous AFCON meeting came in 2010, when Nigeria recorded a convincing 3–0 victory over Mozambique.
