Adamawa APC 2027: The odds favour Comrade Salihu Mustapha – Sajoh

By Tgnews Reporter

As the contest for the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship ticket in Adamawa State ahead of the 2027 election intensifies, political analyst Ahmad Sajoh has declared that the odds strongly favour Comrade Salihu Mustapha.

In a recent conversation with the aspirant, Sajoh said he gained fresh perspectives on Mustapha’s character, describing him as a true democrat and party loyalist whose approach stands out in an increasingly toxic political environment.

Sajoh revealed that Comrade Salihu Mustapha gave clear instructions to his media team to avoid negative attacks on other aspirants. He emphasised that the contest is an in-house affair and whoever emerges victorious must be supported by all loyal party members.

This reconciliatory stance, according to Sajoh, reflects humility, political maturity, and a genuine understanding of democracy.

The analyst noted Mustapha’s long and consistent political journey, marked by loyalty and service to the party. As a former National Vice Chairman (North East) of the APC who also acted as National Secretary, he built strong relationships across Adamawa, knowing most party members personally.

Sajoh highlighted several factors working in Mustapha’s favour. Unlike other aspirants who may need fresh introductions, Mustapha is returning to colleagues he has worked with, supported, and assisted over the years as a party leader.

His deep-rooted national connections, particularly his consistent support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and strong ties with leaders such as National Security Adviser Mallam Nuhu Ribadu and APC National Chairman Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, further strengthen his position.

The opinion piece also points to Mustapha’s cordial relationship with Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, whose influence within the state APC is significant. Their long-standing mutual respect was demonstrated when the Governor offered his house for Mustapha’s use during a visit to Mubi.

Additionally, many members of the Adamawa State House of Assembly, including those seeking re-election, have openly thrown their weight behind him, a move Sajoh described as a strong indication of confidence in his acceptability at the grassroots.

Mustapha’s background as a former student union leader gives him a natural edge with the youth, while his multi-ethnic roots spanning Yola North, Hong, Fufore, and Mayo Belwa position him as a unifying figure who embodies the inclusive spirit of Adamawa.

Beyond politics, his credentials are impressive: a PhD in Security Studies and Conflict Resolution, an LLB with BL, distinguished military service, and a successful banking career. He also holds traditional titles including Sa’i Adamawa and Galadima Hong.

Sajoh concluded that when all factors are considered, Comrade Salihu Mustapha holds a commanding advantage in the race for the APC ticket.
