Actress Michelle Pfeiffer used Instagram on Thursday to criticize Apeel, an FDA-approved food coating that was once funded by Bill Gates. She shared a post claiming that “organic produce is no longer safe” because of the approval, calling the development “very concerning.” Pfeiffer explained that Apeel is an edible, plant-based coating meant to keep fruits and vegetables fresh longer, but she worries it cannot be seen or washed off.
