A man loses limbs after being accused of stealing his elder brother’s mobile phone

Adamu, a resident of Sambi Daji village in Tumu District, Akko Local Government Area of Gombe State, has tragically lost both his hands due to a severe incident involving his elder brother.

The elder brother had accused Adamu of stealing his mobile phone, leading to a harrowing series of events.

The details of the event were shared by Zagazola Makama, an expert on counterterrorism and insurgency in the Lake Chad Basin, through a post on his X handle recently.

According to Makama, the elder brother, whose name was not disclosed, apprehended Adamu and bound his hands with a rope, with the intention of holding him captive until he disclosed the whereabouts of the phone.

Regrettably, the rope was fastened too tightly, resulting in restricted blood circulation to Adamu’s hands. Upon loosening the rope, it was evident that his hands had sustained severe damage, necessitating emergency amputation by medical professionals to save his life.

Adamu’s unfortunate ordeal serves as a stark reminder of the dire consequences of misplaced accusations and vigilantism within communities.
