4-Year-Old Girl Drowns During Swimming Lesson Without Life Jacket

A four-year-old girl, identified as Berra Dizi, has tragically died after drowning during a swimming lesson at a nursery school in Turkey.

According to reports, the heartbreaking incident occurred on August 12 at a nursery located in the Suleymaniye neighbourhood of Inegöl, Bursa Province. Surveillance footage showed the moment staff rushed to save the little girl after she was seen floating motionless in the pool. Her swimming instructor immediately pulled her out as others attempted to revive her.

A nurse at the school performed first aid before paramedics arrived. Berra was rushed to a local hospital and later transferred to Bursa Yüksek İhtisas Education and Research Hospital, where she remained in intensive care for seven days. Sadly, she passed away despite medical efforts.

Following the incident, the nursery claimed that Berra died due to an epileptic seizure that occurred while she was in the pool. However, her parents firmly rejected this claim.

Berra’s mother revealed that while her daughter had suffered two febrile seizures as a baby, she had been seizure-free for two years and had been cleared by doctors to discontinue her medication.

Hospital reports also confirmed drowning as the official cause of death, further fueling the family’s anger toward the school’s explanation.

In a controversial development, an expert panel concluded that Berra’s parents were “primarily at fault” for not disclosing her full medical history. Her father, İsmail Dizi, condemned the report, pointing out that two of the panel members were mechanical engineers, not medical professionals.
