28-Year-Old Woman Shot Dead by Husband Days After Reporting Threats

A 28-year-old woman, Nandini Parihar, has been shot dead by her husband in Gwalior, India, just days after publicly revealing that he had been threatening her life.

The tragic incident occurred near Roop Singh Stadium, one of Gwalior’s busiest areas, while Nandini was traveling in an auto-rickshaw with two friends after visiting the Superintendent of Police’s office to lodge another complaint against her abusive husband, Arvind Parihar.

According to reports, Arvind followed her in a separate rickshaw and ambushed her near the stadium, firing five shots at close range. Witnesses described chaos as pedestrians fled the scene in panic.

Eyewitness MP Singh, a lawyer, said: ““I was just coming from court when I heard gunshots. I saw him fire three bullets, one after the other, right into her. People were frozen in fear nobody dared catch him”

Arvind remained at the scene, sitting beside his wife’s bl–d-soaked body while brandishing his pistol and daring anyone to approach. When police arrived, he even threatened to shoot them. Officers eventually overpowered him by using tear gas, after which he was beaten and arrested.

Nandini was rushed to JAH Hospital, where she tragically succumbed to her injuries two hours later.

The killing came just days after Nandini had sought police protection. On September 8, she visited the police station and told both the SP and the media that her husband and his family had been threatening her.

In a statement before her death, she said: “My husband is using AI to make obscene photos and videos of me and upload them. He has a girlfriend, a wife, and a child. He even tried to k!ll me by running a car over me, and when I filed an FIR, he went to jail. After coming out, he started harassing me again, putting pressure on me to compromise. Whoever supports me, he abuses them as well. Nobody is listening to me.”
