The influencer, who works in the fashion industry, previously revealed five habits that are making you ‘broke’, and the money rules she swears by, and has now disclosed the things she believes are a waste of money.

1. Pets

Furry friends may provide a source of companionship for many people, but Mia thinks they aren’t worth the cost.

“I don’t think people realise how costly pets are until they actually get them”, she said in a video posted to her TikTok account @miarosemcgrath, highlighting that her parents’ cat had to get an operation, which set them back an eye-watering £1,000.

“What 20-something-year-old has £1,000 to drop on an emergency medical bill like that”, she said.

2. A new car

Cars may be essential for many people to get around, but Mia believes it’s never worth buying a new one.

As cars depreciate in cost as soon as they leave the showroom, she think it’s pointless buying new, and would also go for second hand.

“This is something that I probably won’t ever buy”, she admitted.

3. Designer items

Mia is firmly against buying anything designer that “costs more than my rent”.

She revealed that she would love to buy a Chanel Classic Flap Bag, and could technically afford one, but doesn’t see the point while she’s still paying rent.

“It makes absolutely no sense to me”, she revealed.

4. Nicotine products

Smoking and vaping can be extremely costly habits, and ones that Mia has never been tempted by.

“It’s such a waste of money and so detrimental to your health“, she said.

5. The latest tech

Every time Apple launches a new product, many people are tempted to splash out on the latest phone model.

However, Mia thinks this is a complete waste of money.
