2026 World Cup qualifiers: NFF president pledges to take holistic measures after Super Eagles’ defeat to Benin Republic
President of the Nigeria Football Federation, Ibrahim Gusau has pledged to take holistic measures to address the teams woes including their 2 - 1 defeat to Benin Republic in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.  When asked in a recent interview about the possibility of appointing a new coach or retaining Finidi George, who was appointed in April, the NFF President said:  Its a very sad moment for Nigerian football, we cant run away from that, he admitted.  But all I want to assure you is that we are working tirelessly in collaboration with the minister to come out with some holistic measures that will change the face of the entire system so that we can move forward, he said.  The NFF President, who was speaking after a meeting with the Minister of Sports Development, John Enoh, also assured the Super Eagles squadwill secure qualification for the prestigious tournament.  Dont forget that its still possible, and were going to make it.
