Kawasaki has officially launched the 2026 Kawasaki Z650RS in India with a refreshed look and updated mechanicals tailored to evolving fuel norms. Priced at ₹7.83 lakh (ex-showroom), the new Z650RS is an updated metallic blue and gold colour scheme, replacing the older black-and-gold livery. Alongside the cosmetic uplift, the bike now sports E20-compatible fuel tech that aligns with India’s push toward ethanol-blended petrol.

Despite its visual tweaks, the 2026 Z650RS largely remains mechanically unchanged. Powering this retro-inspired machine is the familiar 649cc parallel-twin, liquid-cooled engine that delivers around 68hp and 62.1Nm of torque, and is paired with a smooth-shifting six-speed gearbox. However, due to E20 compliance, the peak torque figure is marginally lower than before by about 1.9Nm.

In terms of styling, the Z650RS stays true to its classic roots with round headlamps, chrome accents and gold five-spoke wheels that harken back to the iconic Kawasaki Z900RS lineage. Feature-wise, the 2026 Z650RS offers an analogue twin-pod instrument cluster that reinforces the retro appeal while providing essential ride data. The bike also incorporates modern safety aids such as dual-channel ABS and a switchable traction control system, enhancing confidence on varied road conditions.

Handling remains one of the Z650RS’s strong suits, thanks to its lightweight trellis frame and well-tuned suspension setup that delivers composed dynamics without intimidating novice riders. With a 12-litre fuel tank and manageable kerb weight, the bike strikes a compelling balance between practicality and performance.
