2026 Dakar Rally : Defender Dakar D7X-R vehicles powers team to first, second and fourth in the Stock category.

Trio of Defender Rally crews achieved a ‘1‑2‑3’ result across 10 of the 13 stages during the event held at the Saudi Arabian desert.

The team completed the rigorous two-week event with a specially prepared Defender OCTA-based Defender Dakar D7X-R.

The three vehicles racked up a combined total of 24,000-km (15,000-mile) traversing the Saudi Arabian desert.

The Defender Rally team finished first, second and fourth in the 2026 Dakar Rally in the ‘Stock’ class for production‑based cars, during the British luxury brand’s debut entry to the world’s most extreme off‑road event.

Defender driver and co-driver Rokas Baciuška and Oriol Vidal emerged first with an overall time of 58h 09’ 45” while Sara Price with Sean Berriman, and Stéphane Peterhansel with Mika Metge, finished in second and fourth respectively.

The team completed the rigorous two-week event with Defender OCTA-based Defender Dakar D7X-Rs, with the three vehicles racking up a combined total of 24,000-km (15,000-mile) traversing the Saudi Arabian desert.

Thanks to these specially prepared Defender Dakar D7X-R vehicles powered by the OCTA’s 4.4‑litre twin‑turbo V8 engine, the trio of Defender Rally crews were able to achieve a ‘1‑2‑3’ result across 10 of the 13 stages.

“I feel exhilarated, amazed, and I can’t believe it. It hasn’t really sunk in yet. To see the three Defenders come over the line together, it’s the culmination of an incredible team effort. To see us win it in our first race has made history, and to also come second in such style. The team spirit has just been incredible,” said Defender MD, Mark Cameron.

The just concluded 2026 Dakar Rally in Saudi Arabia is the first round of the 2026 World Rally‑Raid Championship (W2RC). Defender Rally will also compete at the next round of the W2RC at the bp Ultimate Rally‑Raid Portugal from 17‑22 March 2026.
