2025 U-20 W/Cup: Flying Eagles Defeat Saudi Arabia 3-2 To Revive Campaign

Nigeria’s Flying Eagles secured a crucial 3–2 victory over Saudi Arabia on Friday, October 3, 2025, at the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Chile.

The match, held at Estadio Fiscal, Talca, saw the Flying Eagles bounce back after a disappointing start to the tournament.

Nasiru Salihu opened the scoring for Nigeria with a powerful header in the 10th minute. Shortly after, Kparobo Ariehi had a chance to double the lead, but his shot was saved by the Saudi goalkeeper.

Saudi Arabia equalized in the 21st minute through Amar Al Yuhaybi. Nigeria regained the lead in the 38th minute when right-back Amos Ochoche scored from inside the box.

After the break, Saudi Arabia leveled the score again in the 50th minute with a header from substitute Talal Haji.

The decisive moment came in stoppage time when Nigeria’s captain Daniel Bameyi converted a penalty to secure a 3–2 win for the Flying Eagles.

With this victory, Nigeria moved up to third place in Group F with three points from two matches. Colombia and Norway lead the group with four points each.

The Flying Eagles will take on Colombia in their final group match on Sunday, October 5, 2025, at 7:00 PM local time in Chile (12:00 AM Nigerian time on Monday, October 6). A win or draw will help Nigeria secure a spot in the knockout stages.
