15 Including Traditional Ruler, Pregnant Wife Kidnapped By Gunmen

The traditional ruler of Pupule in Yoro Local Government Area of Taraba State, Alhaji Alhaji Umaru Abubakar Nyala, has been abducted by gunmen.

The gunmen, numbering over 20, invaded the palace of the Chief of Kwaji at Pupule in the midnight and abducted Nyala, his pregnant wife and son.

The gunmen also abducted the orderly of the monarch and 12 people inside the town.

Newsdirect learnt that the gunmen, after abducting the second class chief and his family members, also abducted many people inside the town.

A resident narrated, “We heard sound of heavy gunshots inside the palace and we ran away from our houses, only to hear in the morning that our chief and his family members and other people inside the town were kidnapped.”

It was further gathered that this is the third time the gunmen attacked Pupule town, which is the headquarters of Kwaji Chiefdom.

Police spokesperson, SP Usman Abdullahi, confirmed the abduction of the second-class chief and his family members and other people in the town.

“It is confirmed that the chief of Kwaji chiefdom and his family members were abducted,” Abdullahi stated.
