11-Member Inter-Ministerial Committee Inaugurated to Oversee Ghana’s World Cup Preparations

Ghana is making significant efforts to ensure a strong performance at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. President John Mahama has launched an 11-member inter-ministerial committee to oversee all preparations for the tournament.

Deputy Chief of Staff Stan Xoese Dogbe will lead the committee, with Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa as his deputy. Other members include Sports Minister Kofi Adams, Youth Development Minister George Opare, Deputy Tourism and Culture Minister Yusif Jajah, Deputy Finance Minister Ampem Nyarkoh, and GFA President Kurt Okraku.

Ghanaian football legend Abedi Pele, Deputy National Security Coordinator Elizabeth Yankah, and Sports Ministry Chief Director Wilhelmina Asamoah are also part of the team.

During the inauguration, Sports Minister Kofi Adams stated that the Cabinet recently approved the formation of this committee to ensure smooth coordination across all sectors.

“It is necessary to ensure proper coordination between the technical and all other components so that we do not work in silos,” he said.

The government has pledged GH₵150 million to support Ghana’s World Cup efforts, showing a strong investment in the national team’s readiness and participation. The committee’s responsibilities include managing logistics, working with football authorities, and coordinating efforts among ministries to ensure that Ghana’s World Cup campaign is well-organized and fully supported.
