WWE RAW RESULTS AND LIVE BLOG FOR SEPT. 15

No lyrics today y’all, the show starting early + taking a walk with my wife after she got home means I didn’t have time to pick anything before sitting down to the liveblog. On with the show!

The show opens with a recap of last week’s tag team main event.

The usual montage of talent arriving at the arena follows, but LA Knight appears to jump Jey Uso!

Referees swarm and general manager Adam Pearce arrives to tell them to knock it off or he’s gonna take it out of their paychecks!

John Cena makes his entrance and gets on the mic.

He says we might not know it but he spent a lot of time playing football down the street at Springfield College, and you haven’t heard that because he was an offensive lineman, so he showed up, got his ass kicked, and then showed up to get his ass kicked again and never got his name in the papers.

He says he’s got a lot of family here in the building but it’s his niece’s birthday but she couldn’t be here so he wishes her a happy birthday. He says it’s so packed they couldn’t get a stage in here and he thanks the ring announcer for her introduction and says he started insisting on this introduction for one reason but it’s become a different thing, a way to share energy with the crowd and have a moment.

And he needs that moment, because he’s got a pretty tall hill to climb. The words “the last real champion” in his intro mean a lot to him and on Saturday, Brock Lesnar wants to end the last real champion. Brock is very intimidating and no doubt he’s controversial, and he’s damn near invincible.

“Fuck you, Lesnar!” chants go up and John tells Netflix that they’re saying “Talk to Lesnar” and to let it slide, because that’s what we’re doing. Brock came back and like he has so many times before, he attacked Cena and made him a target. He’s had matches against Lesnar before, some of the toughest challenges he’s ever faced.

So when Brock comes back, knocks him out, and challenges him, why the hell doesn’t he just say no? “Whoop his ass!” chants go up and John says if he says no he can keep his health, go backstage, lean into politics, go and say he’s been here 23 years and he’s owned a favor and the only one who’d be pissed off is Brock Lesnar.

Saying no is smart, he’s only got six appearances left. Saying no is safe, it’s easy. “Thank you, Cena!” chants go up and he says that right there is why he doesn’t say no. Being the last real champion isn’t about a belt or a main event or being the face of the company, it’s about operating with hustle, loyalty, and respect and never taking your ball and going home and giving all you have to make some magic.

Is he afraid of Brock Lesnar? Yes he is. Could he fail? Yes he could. Will he back down or give up? HELL NO! We’ll take the fight to the Beast because that’s what we do, and he tells Brock to listen to the energy, because for the first time on ESPN, the Beast squares up against the last real champion, and it’s a final showdown of two generational titans.

He doesn’t give a damn how many suplexes are in his city, John says he founded Suplex City and he’s taken his best shot for 20 years and he’s stayed standing, and just like a sign in the crown says, his jorts are stronger than Brock’s jeans, and if you want some, come get some.

Backstage, Jey Uso and LA Knight are in Adam Pearce’s office.

Pearce tells them to make it make sense, and Knight says he doesn’t care what Uso is doing at Wrestlepalooza, he speared him last week for no reason and he’s not happy about it. Adam says he can’t have the show go off the rails and he asks what he needs to do to keep the peace. Knight says he wants a piece of Bron and Bronson and Pearce says he has to have a tag partner.

LA says he wants to tag with “Big” Jim Uso, Jey gets upset because that’s his brother, but Knight says that’s how it’s gonna be and storms off.

Lyra Valkyria makes her entrance to send us to break.

Lyra Valkyria vs. Roxanne! Perez

Collar and elbow, holding onto it as they roll around the ring and back to their feet, stalemate and a shoving match breaks out! Valkyria with a go-behind, waistlock takedown, side headlock takeover, reversed to a headscissors, Perez with a wristlock to La Casita, only a nearfall. Lyra off the ropes, slide under, back roll, bridging cover, only two!

Off the ropes, leapfrog, Roxanne! with a kick to the spine, Valkyria up and over, legsweep to a dropkick and then the crossbody for two but Lyra’s back is bugging her! Raquel Rodriguez runs interference and referee Jessika Carr ejects her! Perez with a pinning predicament for about five but Carr was busy and Valkyria kicks out!

Lyra dumps Roxanne! to the floor and hits a wrecking ball dropkick! Back inside, Perez gets the better of her, tripping her hard into the turnbuckles, nearfall and we go to break!

Back from commercial, Valkyria hits a Doctor Bomb… STILL NO! Up on the bottom rope, Perez cuts her off, hammering punches to the back, avalanche Frankensteiner, knee drop to the back, only a nearfall! Lyra gets under her, fireman’s carry…

Lyra Valkyria wins by pinfall with Nightwing.

Post-match, Raquel Rodriguez returns and attacks Lyra Valkyria at some length…

BAYLEY IS HERE! She charges in the ring, takes Rodriguez out, suplexes Roxanne!, Stundog Millionaire on Raquel! Tube man elbow on Perez, Bayley-to-Belly connects and sends Perez crashing to the floor!

The Role Model turns to face Lyra and Valkyria backs off. Bayley feeling a little switchy, she clutches her head and bails out of the ring to hug Joe Tessitore and Corey Graves on commentary! She pulls the ring announcer in for a hug as well! She hugs referee Jessika Carr and some dude in the front row in Finn Balor gear and also a guy in a Metallica t-shirt and a bald crewmember!

Adam Pearce is backstage with IYO SKY and Stephanie Vaquer and a contract and says it’s official, they’ll compete for the vacant WWE Women’s World Championship on Saturday. They both politely say they’re gonna win and shake hands.

Kabuki Warriors roll up and Asuka’s got a centipede painted on her face for some reason and says if Stephanie thinks she’s so good she’s gonna fight Kairi Sane tonight. Sane is a little confused but steps up, game to fight, and Pearce makes the match official.

LA Knight rolls up on “Big” Jim Uso backstage.

Uso says he doesn’t know what’s going on with him and his brother but– LA says it’s not about Jey, it’s about he needs a partner tonight and he chose Jim because after last week he proved himself and he didn’t try to screw him like his brother did. Uso says he’s putting him in a rough spot and tonight he knows he needs to get his, but at Wrestlepalooza the Usos are getting theirs, and that means that tonight, Knight needs to find somebody else.

New Day (and Grayson Waller) make their entrance to send us to break.

Kofi Kingston vs. Penta

Kingston immediately bails to the floor, Penta rushes out after him, around the ring and back inside, duck a lariat, Zero blasts him with a superkick that sends him back to the floor and follows it with a tope con giro! Back inside, Kofi counters a springboard with a kick, Grayson Waller taunting Penta and he gets a slap in the chops for his trouble!

Kingston off the apron, big Shadows Over Hell and we go to break!

Back from commercial, Penta off the ropes, tijeras, back body drop into a Cheeky Nando’s, the handstand double stomp connects… KINGSTON KICKS OUT! Penta Driver denied, Kofi rakes the eyes, SOS connects… SO CLOSE! Trading kicks, a knee gets an enzuigiri and both men are down and out! Xavier Woods runs interference, Waller runs in, Zero with a superkick to take care of him, springboard…

Penta wins by pinfall with a springboard flip piledriver.

Backstage, Jey Uso is on the phone when Jim Uso rolls up and asks who’s on the phone.

Jey tells him not to worry about it and that he has to say no to LA Knight when he asks him to tag, indicating he hasn’t been watching the show. Jimmy scoffs, Jey says it’s family that matters, the two of them, period, end of sentence. Jim says he told LA no but he’s not taking orders from him. Jey says he didn’t mean it like that, but Jimmy tells him to change his tone, because he ain’t the Tribal Chief and storms off.

We see Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch walking together backstage to send us to break.

Back from commercial, we see Jey Uso at a baseball game throwing the first pitch.

Jimmy Uso rolls up on LA Knight and asks if he’s still looking for a partner. LA says he doesn’t want to put him in a bad position, but Jim says he’s in. YEAH!

Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch make their entrance, wearing matching black pleather outfits like they’re in a terrible direct-to-video Matrix sequel made by people that don’t understand just how trans the original film was. (Seriously, the red pill is estrogen, it’s called Premarin, look it up!)

Rollins gets on the mic and gets upset by “CM Punk!” chants before welcoming us to Monday Night Rollins and saying he has the honor and privilege of introducing your Intercontinental Champion, the Man, Becky Lynch.

She says she doesn’t talk behind people’s backs, she’s not CM Punk, so whatever she has to say she wants to say it to their face.

Enter AJ Lee and CM Punk, also dressed all matchy in blue jeans and AJ’s merch.

Punk says he’s AJ’s husband and he’s not gonna waste time with a big overcomplicated introduction– “AJ’s husband!” chants go up and he continues, saying they know who he is and they sure as hell know her name, which gets another round of “AJ Lee!” chants. CM asks who the team leader is, who’s the man, before deciding to start with Lynch, ladies first.

He’s made a career of telling people what he thinks about them to their face but he’s overwhelmed by what to say about them, just look at these two goofs. Punk says they brag about being the greatest wrestling couple but they can’t get on the same page and share the spotlight, and they made us listen to two crappy songs while he had no problem putting Cult of Personality on the shelf to let this lady Light It Up.

CM says they share a brain cell and a wardrobe, and if they can’t share the spotlight, Saturday’s gonna be a real easy night for them. Are they gonna put their egos aside? Seth scoffs, “Shut the fuck up!” chants go up and Becky yells at the crowd to show her hot husband some respect and calls them the human incarnation of herpes.

Rollins says he’s gonna do something selfless that’s gonna hurt him immensely that will make all these people happy. He doesn’t wanna, but he’s gonna, he’s gonna give CM Punk credit. He says this is the best decision Punk has made in his personal life and tells the crowd they can hate all they want he’s still the champion.

But inserting AJ into this business is gonna be a mistake Punk will regret for the rest of his days. Lee says no, sweetcheeks, that mistake was Seth’s, because she wouldn’t even be here today if he hadn’t used his wife as a human shield. Lynch says nobody expected Lee to come back after ten years gone but what she really can’t believe is how irresponsible it is of CM Punk.

He’s said it himself he only cares about three things– CM Punk, the world title that he’ll never have, and AJ Lee. She asks AJ how she’s feeling mentally since she talks in her book extensively about the damage done to her neck, and how’s she feeling? CM got into a blood feud with a man for taking a crappy little bracelet with her name on it, so how’s he gonna feel when she’s pummeling her face in?

Becky says she’s the greatest female wrestler of all time and it’s not just her saying it, Punk says nobody else says it, Seth says he says it, Lynch says Sports Illustrated and ESPN say it, and that all means that AJ isn’t an asset, she’s a liability. Lee thanks her for reading her book and admits that she hasn’t read Becky’s, but she’s right.

AJ says Becky makes a good point, she doesn’t know how her neck will hold up. It’s been ten years since she’s taken a bump in the ring and she doesn’t know what’s gonna happen on Saturday any more than she knew what was gonna happen on SmackDown two weeks ago when she skipped out here and saw Becky’s constipated face and saw red.

But it’s not her neck she should worry about, she won two titles on this damaged neck. and what she should worry about is the fact that AJ doesn’t even know what she’s gonna do next. She’s erratic and she’s been known to make rash decisions. She’s a Puerto Rican from New Jersey, sometimes she shanks a chick, can’t help it.

Rollins made a plan and had his wife as a backup plan, but you can’t plan for something you can’t predict. Seth laughs at the idea that he can’t handle her but admits she’s not wrong, he can’t predict what she’s gonna do, but he can read her husband like a book. And what she might not know about Punk is that he has a nasty habit of leaving when things let him down.

So this Saturday when his wife rips Lee into shreds, she better hope to god that he doesn’t leave her too. AJ cracks her neck and hauls off and slaps Seth across the face! Rollins goes wide-eyed in shock and fury and stares a hole in the ring! He says he’s never put his hands on a lady, but thankfully he has someone who will.

He gives Becky a nod like “get her” but Lynch isn’t on the same page! They argue awkwardly and quietly in that way that married couples do when they don’t want to show whoever they’re dealing with that they’re not on the same page and Lynch storms off, saying Seth got them into this and he needs to handle himself.

Rollins piefaces Punk and bails, leading him on a merry chase… AS SOON AS PUNK LEAVES, BECKY SLIDES BACK IN AND HITS THE MANHANDLE SLAM ON AJ! She slaps Punk across the face a few times and runs away to suck her husband’s face as CM checks on his wife.

We get a recap video for Worlds Collide.

Freshly-crowned AAA Mega Champion Dominik Mysterio is interviewed backstage.

He scoffs about talk about him and El Grande Americano and says holding both the titles he holds makes him your Mega Intercontinental Champion.

We here sounds of violence and referees rush through. The camera follows them to reveal New Day beating the holy hell out of Penta, walloping him with a steel chair as War Raiders arrive to check on their buddy.

El Grande Americano makes his entrance to send us to break.

Dragon Lee vs. El Grande Americano

Lee hot out the gates, shotgun dropkick, stomps in the corner, Americano blasts him with a running kick and takes him down with grounded punches! Kick to the shoulder, boots up in the corner, tijeras, Grande into the corner, running dropkick from Dragon, slingshot back in, fireman’s carry, TKO for two!

Choking Lee in the ropes, trading punches, whip reversed, drop down, leapfrog caught, California Roll… NOPE! Right hands from Dragon, huge chop from Americano reverberates around the arena, choke in the corner, whip to the corner, back body drop to the apron, Grande blocks a punch, Lee stops himself from getting face’d into the post, suicide Frankensteiner connects!

Americano finds himself on the announce desk, Dragon off the ropes… TOPE CON GIRO ONTO THE DESK! Both men down and out on the desk and we go to break!

Back from commercial, Lee with a Liger Bomb… NO DEAL! Up top, Americano in the Tree of Woe, Dragon off the post with the double stomp… STILL NO! El Grande Americano II appears and hits a kick to cut Lee off, tijeras from Americano I… NOPE! AJ Styles arrives to even the odds… EL GRANDE AMERICANO III IS HERE AND TAKES STYLES OUT WITH A TORNADO DDT!

III runs interference while II knocks Lee off the turnbuckles, I grabs Dragon…

El Grande Americano I wins by submission with a Steiner Recliner.

Post-match, El Grande Americano I, II, and III have a pointing Spider-Man moment with each other.

Lyra Valkyria approaches Bayley’s locker room while the various Bayleys are having an argument among themselves.

Lyra opens the door and Bayley is sitting there calmly and looks confused when Valkyria asks who she was talking to. Lyra thanks her for her help against Judgment Day and the Role Model gets to her feet and thanks Valkyria for showing her that idiots still exist here and chews her out and tells her to stay out of her locker room and calls her an idiot.

Stephanie Vaquer is in Gorilla when Rhea Ripley rolls up. She tells her whether it’s her or IYO that wins the title, she’s coming for it.

Vaquer makes her entrance to send us to break.

Kairi Sane vs. Stephanie Vaquer

Circling, collar and elbow, into the ropes, clean break from Vaquer. Sane prowling, test of strength, Stephanie with an armbar, a toehold, Kairi takes over into a ride and then a front chancery to a stalemate. Vaquer with a waistlock takedown, Sane with a side headlock, Stephanie fights her off, side headlock of her own countered with the headscissors.

Duck a lariat, both women go for dropkicks and stalemate staredown! Asuka calling shots, Vaquer ducks a backfist, whip reversed, back body drop, tijeras from Sane, dropkick follows, sliding elbow in the ropes, cover… NOPE! Kairi slides under, looking for a powerbomb to the floor, Vaquer counters with a double stomp on the apron and we go to break!

Back from commercial, Sane in control, whip to the corner, back elbow, Vaquer passes her face-first into the turnbuckles and blasts her with a dropkick! Charging corner knees, underhooks, Kairi gets away and cracks a forearm right at her chin! Overhand chops, catch a kick, elbow connects, running blockbuster follows!

Corner elbow, up top, nobody home, Stephanie floats over a DDT, victory roll pin for two! Sane with a victory roll, also two, brainbuster! Kairi up top, Vaquer cuts her off, jockeying for position, headbutt puts La Primera in the Tree of Woe… DOUBLE STOMP INTO A FOLDING PRESS FOR TWO!

Vaquer sunset flip, Kairi with a pair of backfists, Stephanie backs her off with a headbutt, blocks the boot in the corner and hits a dragon screw! Sane rolls to the floor, Asuka with her, and Vaquer takes ’em both out with a crossbody off the top! Back inside, Devil’s Kiss connects about a dozen times! Underhooks…

Stephanie Vaquer wins by pinfall with SBB.

Post-match, Asuka goes to confront Vaquer but IYO SKY rushes down to get in her way!

They argue in Japanese at some length and Asuka backs down and leaves the ring. Stephanie is right behind IYO with a smile on her face and SKY offers a hand and they shake ahead of their match for the vacant title.

Bron ‘n Bron Connection cut a promo on the Usos backstage.

The idea is they were the greatest tag team of all time but now B ‘n B are and tonight is a taste of Wrestlepalooza.

And so we go to break.

Back from commercial, Asuka is yelling at IYO SKY.

SKY says she hopes she understands she needs to do this by herself and win on her own. Asuka takes offense, Kairi is sobbing holding onto her but Asuka eventually does a “fine but you’re not gonna win” and storms off, leaving Sane to stumble after her.

Commentary hypes up the Wrestlepalooza card.

We go to the Judgment Day clubhouse where they drink a toast to double champ Dominik Mysterio.

Finn Balor wants to pump the brakes on the victory lap since Roxanne! Perez and Raquel Rodriguez have had a rough night. Rodriguez says not to worry and Finn shifts gears to being upset about El Grande Americano as he pours his drink out. He demands to know– JD McDonagh backs him down and says they just want to know what Americano is going to expect in return for his help.

Mysterio claims he just wants to help him out of the goodness of his heart because he’s King of the Luchadors, but Balor doesn’t buy it and tells him to go to Americano the next time he needs help.

Rusev rolls up and introduces himself but Dominik denies his handshake.

The Redeemer says that he is the next Intercontinental Champion and walks off.

LA Knight makes his entrance to send us to break.

Bron ‘n Bron Connection (Bron Breakker & “Big” Bronson Reed) vs. “Big” Jim Uso & LA Knight

Uso and Breakker to start, circling, collar and elbow, side headlock, shot off, shoulder block! Bron in Knight’s face, go-behind, big waistlock takedown, shoving Jim into the corner for shoulder blocks! Breakker getting the better of him, tag to Reed, working Uso over. Tag to LA, slipping and sliding, putting boots to Bronson, tag to Jim, charging, Ode to Rikishi, Reed to the floor, double lariat sends Breakker to the floor and we go to break!

Back from commercial, Reed plants Uso with a mat slam and yanks him by his braids into an overhead elbow! Tag to Breakker, doing push-ups in the ring, getting Jim up top, shoved down, Uso crawling for a cover but Bron blocks. Reaching, desperate, Breakker with a Manhattan Drop to a belly-to-belly suplex and a tag to Bronson!

Jim rolls away from the senton, big slicing right, boot up in the corner… WHISPER IN THE WIND! Both men down and out, hot tag to Knight! Jumping neckbreaker on Breakker, he floats over into a back elbow, LA elbows Bronson but gets caught by a pump knee from Bron! Tag to Reed, Knight floats over, off the ropes, lariat one, lariat two, Bronson unmoved, fireman’s carry, LA floats over, side Russian legsweep takes the big man down!

Double jump elbow drop, Uso tagged in on the way, diving splash… BREAKKER BREAKKS IT UP! Knight takes Bron hard to the floor, Jim gets Reed down, off the ropes, suicide dive connects! Uso back inside, off the ropes again but Bronson cuts him off with an elbow! Throwing Jim back inside, LA comes off the steps with a right hand and throws him back inside!

Superkick from Uso, off the ropes, spear connects! Breakker takes LA out, Reed pulls Jim down…

Bron ‘n Bron Connection win by pinfall with the running Death Valley Driver from Bronson Reed on Jim Uso.

Post-match, Breakker and Reed work Jimmy over, the straps come down, head of steam, big spear from Bron!

“MAIN EVENT” JEY USO MAKES THE SAVE, STEEL CHAIR IN HAND! Walloping Breakker with it, inside, Reed swats it aside but Jey takes the opening to hammer him with punches, the big right hand, chair to the gut, bam across the back and Bronson falls to the floor! He helps his brother out and Knight slides in the ring and grabs the chair!

Jey turns around and puts his hands up and LA throws the chair away but keeps staring him down. Jey offers a hand, they exchange a few words and Knight shakes his hand… AND AS SOON AS HE TURNS AWAY HE PULLS JEY BACK IN AND HITS THE BFT!

That’s the show, folks.
