Wrexham told to punish Paul Mullin over 'disgraceful' King Charles jibe during promotion party celebrations

Wrexham co-owner Ryan Reynolds has been called to 'deal' with Paul Mullins and James McClean after a social media post they made making a dig at King Charles during their promotion party in Las Vegas.

The Welsh club secured promotion to League One with a 6-0 victory over Forest Green last month.

They were unable to catch Stockport for the league title, but celebrations were well underway after the season finished at the end of April.

Wrexham travelled back to Vegas - a year on from their National League promotion party - where co-owners Reynolds and Rob McElhenney ensured they were given VIP treatment.

A few of the players took in the local sights and watched Canelo Alvarez fight against Jaime Munguia.

But a social media post Mullin and McClean put up online has caused quite a stir during their boozy celebrations.

Mullin posted a selfie of the pair on Instagram with the caption, "We hate the f***ing King!"

Irish footballer McClean has made no secret of his disdain for the Royal Family and Wrexham fans sang 'he hates the f***ing King' after their promotion to League One was confirmed.

The post was deleted after causing fury online, but some who saw it want the club to take action against the two players.

One person fumed: "@VancityReynolds I hope you don’t condone this? They are representing your football club and they are a disgrace."

Another complained: "I’ve got a message for the Wrexham players Paul Mullin and James McClean how dare you say “I hate the f****** King” this man is recovering from cancer you are a disgrace to your families I hope you and your club get relegated next season."

A third moaned: "@VancityReynolds your 2 players james mcclean and Paul mullin are an absolute disgrace what they say about the king and should be dealt with accordingly it's not the 1st time maybe you should show some b******* and deal with this as an owner."

One other message read: "Surprise surprise them two. Vermin the pair of them."

Another said: "That’s me done watching Wrexham's programme how rude you are about king I’m sure he doesn’t like you either."

Mullin aired his frustrations about the Royal Family previously in his autobiography 'My Wrexham Story' while speaking about a visit from King Charles in 2022.

"What the King's visit meant to me wasn't a chance to bow to the aristocracy," Mullin wrote.

"It meant a wrecking ball smashing through our schedule for the game the next day at Eastleigh - one of our more distant away fixtures.

"Normally we'd travel down to a game like this the day before to give everyone plenty of time to recover from the journey, train for a bit, and then rest up overnight.

"With the King in town that became impossible. He wanted to visit the football club.

"Everyone having shipped down to Hampshire for the weekend wouldn't have been a great look."

He went on to reveal his true feeling about the monarchy, adding: "I'll be straight: This visit might have been billed as an historic day for Wrexham, but it wasn't for me.

"I've no interest in royalty. I don't see why anyone should have the God-given right to be born into such wealth, and then for us to pay for them as well.

"It just comes down to basic fairness. How can one family be entitled to so much just through an accident of birth and then spend their whole lives being lauded for it?"
