The Leader of the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele, has warned that the political standing of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, could be threatened if he fails to retain the confidence of residents in the nation’s capital.

Ayodele delivered the message during a church gathering in Lagos, where he spoke on developments within the Federal Capital Territory. According to him, there is mounting dissatisfaction among sections of the population, which could have political implications if not addressed.

“Wike, if he loses Abuja, they will change him. And the people of Abuja are angry with him,” Ayodele said.

The cleric noted that although Wike has embarked on visible infrastructure projects and administrative restructuring since assuming office, public perception remains a crucial factor in sustaining political relevance. He argued that governance must go beyond projects and include inclusive engagement with residents and stakeholders.

Ayodele claimed that some residents feel uneasy about certain policy decisions, suggesting that communication gaps and perceived insensitivity may be contributing to frustration in parts of the FCT. He warned that if the minister fails to rebuild trust and strengthen grassroots support, internal political forces could move to replace him.

According to Ayodele, Abuja occupies a strategic place in Nigeria’s political landscape, making public opinion there especially significant. He emphasized that political appointees who lose popular backing often become vulnerable, regardless of their performance in office.

The prophet advised Wike to prioritize reconciliation, wider consultations, and people-oriented policies. He stressed that humility and dialogue could help calm tensions and improve the minister’s standing among residents.

Ayodele further stated that the anger he perceives among Abuja residents should not be ignored. “Leadership is about carrying the people along. If the people are not happy, it becomes a serious matter,” he said.

While supporters of Wike maintain that he has injected new energy into the administration of the capital city, critics argue that some of his reforms have generated controversy and resistance.

Ayodele concluded by urging the minister to act swiftly to address grievances, warning that political positions are never permanent if public support wanes. His comments are expected to spark debate within political circles, particularly as Abuja remains central to Nigeria’s governance and power dynamics…..See More
