Atalanta head coach Ivan Juric has revealed that Nigeria international Ademola Lookman could be handed his first start of the season when La Dea host Club Brugge in a UEFA Champions League Group Stage clash at the Gewiss Stadium on Tuesday night.

Lookman, who was reintegrated into the squad after pushing for a summer exit, has featured just once this campaign. He was an unused substitute in Atalanta’s 1-1 Serie A draw with Juventus last weekend.

Juric, speaking in his pre-match press conference, said the winger is now close to returning to regular action.

“Ademola has been training with us for a while and I’m starting to think about it. The same goes for Ederson — they’re two important players we need to bring back into the rotation,” the Croatian tactician said.

Lookman was one of Atalanta’s standout performers last season, netting 17 goals in all competitions as the Bergamo side lifted the Europa League and secured Champions League qualification.
