Uzodimma Welcomes First Lady to Imo, Says State Will Back Tinubu in 2027

Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, has pledged the state’s support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid in the 2027 presidential election, citing the administration’s interventions and support for the people of the state.

Uzodimma made the pledge while welcoming the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, to Imo State for the empowerment of 2,500 women under the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) Women Economic Empowerment Programme.

The governor said he joined his wife, Chief Mrs Chioma Uzodimma, and women across the state to receive the First Lady, who visited Imo as part of efforts to expand the economic empowerment programme to women in the state.

According to Uzodimma, the initiative, implemented in partnership with the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Sustainable Development Goals, was designed to provide women and vulnerable groups with start-up support to establish sustainable businesses and improve their livelihoods.

He described the empowerment programme as a laudable intervention, saying it would help beneficiaries become economically productive and contribute more meaningfully to their families and communities.

Uzodimma expressed appreciation to President Tinubu and the First Lady for what he described as their compassion, commitment and continued support for the welfare and economic wellbeing of Nigerians, particularly people in Imo State.

“We are deeply grateful to the First Lady and Mr. President for their compassion, commitment, and continued support towards improving the welfare and economic wellbeing of our people,” the governor said.

The governor noted that Imo occupies a special position in the Tinubu administration, describing the state as home to the President and the First Lady.

He said the state had benefited from the administration’s support in various ways and would reciprocate the gestures through electoral support for President Tinubu in 2027.

“For a state that is home to Mr. President and the First Lady, we have enjoyed their magnanimity and support in various ways, and we will proudly reciprocate these kind gestures with our massive votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 Presidential Election,” Uzodimma said.

The women’s empowerment programme forms part of the Renewed Hope Initiative, a platform championed by the First Lady to support vulnerable Nigerians and promote economic inclusion through interventions targeting women, youth, families and other groups.

The Imo programme is expected to provide beneficiaries with start-up assistance to enable them to establish or strengthen small-scale businesses and create sustainable sources of income.

The First Lady’s visit and the empowerment exercise further highlight the Federal Government’s efforts to expand social and economic intervention programmes to states across the country, with women identified as a key group in efforts to promote household income and economic resilience.
