Uzodimma to Address UK House of Lords as African Leadership Group Honours Him

Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, is set to address the United Kingdom’s House of Lords next week as part of events marking his recognition by the African Leadership Organization, publishers of African Leadership Magazine.

Uzodimma was selected for the “African Inspirational Leadership and Good Governance” award by the organization chaired by former Tanzanian President Jakaya Kikwete.

The award ceremony is scheduled to hold from July 2–3, 2026, in Westminster, London, and will feature a keynote address by the governor titled, “From Vision to Velocity: Driving Africa’s Next Wave of Growth and Leadership – The Imo State Experience.”

According to a letter signed by Dr. Ken Giami, Founder and Executive Chairman of African Leadership Magazine, Uzodimma is expected to use the platform to present Imo State’s development trajectory and contribute to discussions on governance, economic resilience, sustainable growth, and transformational leadership across Africa.

The organization said the recognition was based on the implementation of the governor’s Shared Prosperity Agenda anchored on reconstruction, rehabilitation and recovery. It noted that his administration’s efforts in infrastructure renewal, public service reforms, youth and women empowerment, institutional strengthening and economic development contributed to the decision.

The letter highlighted achievements including the construction and rehabilitation of more than 130 strategic roads, advancement of the Light Up Imo Project, development of the Orashi Special Energy Zone, and digital skills initiatives that reportedly trained over 60,000 young people through programmes such as Imo Digital City and Imo SkillUp.

With the honour, Uzodimma joins other African leaders previously recognised by the publication, including Julius Maada Bio, Évariste Ndayishimiye, Adama Barrow, Abiy Ahmed and Akinwumi Adesina.
