The Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) says it has nothing to do with the disappearance of two Kenyan activists, Bob Njagi and Nicholas Oyoo, who reportedly went missing in Uganda. Col. Silas Kamanda, a Director at the Joint Staff Legal Services, filed an affidavit on behalf of the military, stating that thorough investigations have turned up nothing. The two men aren’t in their custody. “We have carried out investigations and searched all relevant detention facilities, records, including lock-up registers, custody records and found no entry relating to the said Nicholas Oyoo and Bob Njagi between 1st October, 2025, to date,” The post Uganda Army Clears Itself in Disappearance of Kenyan Activists Njagi and Oyoo appeared first on Nairobi Wire.

“We have carried out investigations and searched all relevant detention facilities, records, including lock-up registers, custody records and found no entry relating to the said Nicholas Oyoo and Bob Njagi between 1st October, 2025, to date,” he said.

“We therefore confirm that they are not within the custody of the Uganda people’s defence forces and we do not know their whereabouts.”

Oyoo and Njagi were taken on October 1st by four armed men, believed to be security agents, while they were in Uganda.

The two activists had been following National Unity Platform presidential candidate Bobi Wine on the campaign trail when they were reportedly forced into a vehicle. Their phones were immediately switched off.

Bobi Wine has criticized President Yoweri Museveni’s government for enabling impunity and trampling on human rights. He argues that the regime uses abductions to silence critics, then denies holding them.

“Like it did with comrade Sam Mugumya, whom it abducted 2 months ago and remains missing to date, the shameless Museveni regime has also denied having in its custody our Kenyan comrades Bob Njagi and Nicholas Oyoo whom it abducted in Kampala on 1st October!” Bobi wrote on X.

“A regime that came to power 40 years promising to end gross human rights violations is now blatantly engaging in even worse! We must end this impunity once and for all, fellow Ugandans!”
