The UAE approved a nationwide Agentic AI framework to transform government services, healthcare systems and federal operations over two years.

ABU DHABI: The UAE Cabinet, chaired by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, approved a federal framework to accelerate the use of Agentic AI across ministries, government services and national operations.

During the Cabinet meeting at Qasr Al Watan, Sheikh Mohammed said the UAE aims to become the first government globally to deploy Agentic AI across 50 per cent of government services and operations within the next two years. The meeting was attended by Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

Agentic AI refers to advanced artificial intelligence systems capable of making decisions, performing tasks independently and managing complex workflows with minimal human intervention. Governments and major technology companies worldwide are increasingly investing in the technology as part of future digital transformation strategies.

The new Agentic AI framework defines the responsibilities of all ministries and federal entities involved in the national transformation project. The Cabinet also approved the first phase of AI-powered government services covering citizens, residents, businesses and public services.

As part of the initiative, the UAE launched what officials described as the largest government AI training programme in the country’s history. Around 80,000 federal employees will receive specialised training in Agentic AI technologies through partnerships with universities and global technology firms.

The Cabinet also approved the National Policy for Advancing Digital Healthcare Services and Artificial Intelligence in the health sector. The strategy focuses on AI-driven healthcare systems, advanced digital infrastructure and developing medical workforce capabilities for future healthcare demands.

Officials said the healthcare policy will support preventive, curative and operational services while strengthening health data governance, patient protection and AI safety standards.

Sheikh Mohammed described the project as the beginning of “UAE Government 4.0”, adding that the country’s ambition is to become the world leader in adopting Agentic AI across public sector operations and future government services.
