According to reports, the heartbreaking event occurred near St. Peter’s Claver Junction, where several children and students had taken shelter at a roadside shop to escape the rain.
A viral CCTV video circulating online captured the horrifying moment when an electrical surge struck the area, leaving two students lifeless.

An eyewitness who spoke to Punch said: “Several pupils were taking shelter at the roadside shop during the heavy rainfall. But tragedy, however, struck when the wet bodies of two of the schoolchildren came in contact with a live metal in the place, and they were instantly electrocuted. While others narrowly escaped, including some bystanders who were also surprised at how everything happened in just a twinkle of an eye,”

“The owner of the shop had not opened for business when the incident happened. It took the intervention of some security officers and other passers-by, who, with the help of protective gloves, evacuated the bodies of the children.”
