Two Nigerians Arrested in Thailand for Drug Trafficking ,  One Attempts to Swallow Cocaine to Destroy Evidence

Thai authorities have arrested two Nigerian men, identified as Amarachi and Ikenna, for alleged drug trafficking in Pattaya, Thailand. The suspects were apprehended during a sting operation jointly conducted by Chonburi Immigration and Pattaya City Police on Wednesday, October 29, 2025.

According to reports, the suspects were caught with 33 grams of crystal meth (ice) and 9 grams of cocaine concealed inside cigarette packs and toothpaste boxes.

During the arrest, one of the suspects reportedly tried to swallow small pellets of cocaine in an attempt to destroy evidence, but officers managed to retrieve the drugs just in time.
Police investigations revealed that the two men were connected to a larger Nigerian-led drug network operating in Bangkok’s Nana Plaza area, known for using the “mouth-concealment method” to smuggle drugs and avoid detection.
Both suspects had entered Thailand on tourist visas but had overstayed.
Authorities linked the arrest to an earlier undercover operation in Bangkok on October 26, 2025, where nine suspects — eight Nigerians and one Thai national — were arrested. That raid, conducted by Bangkok Metropolitan Police and narcotics suppression units, uncovered similar drug trafficking methods and further exposed the transnational network’s reach.

Pol. Maj. Gen. Songprod Sirisukha, Commander of Immigration Division 3, described the coordinated arrests as “a major blow to cross-border syndicates,” vowing continued efforts to safeguard Thailand’s tourism hubs from drug-related crimes.
