  • Another GR Corolla is up for sale with a price beneath MSRP.
  • It’s the third such case that we’ve found in the last few months.
  • This is a big shift away from big markups in previous years.

Don’t look now but pricing for the Toyota GR Corolla appears to be normalizing. After a couple of examples advertised at below MSRP showed up, a third has popped up in Virginia. It’s on offer for $2,000 beneath MSRP or $44,619.

There’s no way around it; $44,619 is still a serious chunk of change. At least in this case, the buyer can feel like they rolled away with a good deal though. Toyota says that this GR Corolla, a Circuit Edition with all of the bells and whistles, should sell for $46,619.

To be clear, the buyer gets its outstanding 300 horsepower (223 kW) engine, a six-speed manual gearbox, limited-slip differentials, heated seats, and a heated steering wheel as part of the deal. Having driven this car at its limit I can assure you, that it’s a bonafide long-term superstar in the world of hot hatchbacks.

Components of the Circuit edition like the limited-slip differentials and heating elements make it the practical enthusiast car that it is so one isn’t getting some bargain-bin version here. That said, we’re not completely surprised that this example, and others like it, are trading for this sort of price when compared to MSRP.

First, it’s worth noting that in every case we’ve found of a GR Corolla going for under MSRP, they’ve shared white paint. To my eyes, that’s perhaps the least desirable color of the very few available on this model. In addition, Toyota did just drop an updated version of the GR Corolla that might have buyers focused on it rather than the original found here.

That all said, this is a great little hatchback that its owner will love so long as they actually enjoy driving passionately. Those interested in it should check out Nelson Toyota in Stanleytown, Virginia. That’s not a plug so much as a shout-out to a dealer providing a car at what sounds like a good price. Don’t forget that we call out those who mark their cars up too.
