Toyota Camrys Bought By Sokoto State Govt For Female-only Taxi Services Already Abandoned

Some of the Toyota Camrys bought by Sokoto State government for the female-only taxi services in the state already abandoned.

About 13 of the 20 Toyota Camrys purchased to cushion the effects of the fuel subsidy removal were seen parked in a footage.

The 20 Camrys were part of the 140 vehicles purchased for security agencies and public transportation scheme in Sokoto State.

For the transportation scheme, the government approved N3.4b for the purchase of 50 Toyota 18 seater buses and 20 Toyota Camrys.

Some of the twenty (20) Toyota Camry XSE sedans purchased by the Sokoto State Government last September for the female-only taxi scheme in the state have reportedly been abandoned.

In a footage shared by an X user, @___yellow, about thirteen (13) of the 20 units of Toyota Camrys purchased to cushion the effects of the fuel subsidy removal were seen parked.

It will be recalled that the Sokoto State Government under the leadership of Governor Ahmad Aliyu had in September purchased the Toyota Camry XSE sedans for taxi services in the state.

The 20 Toyota Camrys were part of the 140 vehicles inaugurated by vice president Senator Kashim Shettima, for security agencies and public transportation scheme in Sokoto State.

For the transportation scheme, Jabir Mai-Hula, the Commissioner for Religious Affairs, said that the government approved N3.4 billion for the purchase of 50 Toyota 18 seater buses for inter-state services and 20 Toyota Camrys, which are reserved for only female transportation within the state.
