I've noticed a few cool blouses with interesting collars, and thought we'd do a little roundup. I love the idea of layering these beneath a sweater, blazer, or both — how about you?

We've talked a lot about blouses here, of course, including with our Guide to the Best Tops for Under Suits! We've also talked about how to keep white blouses white, how to fix gaping blouses, when to tuck your blouse (and how to keep them tucked), how high to button your shirt for interviews, and whether a blouse collar should lay INSIDE or OUTSIDE a blazer collar.

The Best Blouses with Interesting Collars

Balzac

This is the blouse that made me start thinking about this — it's a new to me French brand but they have really doubled down on this large, ruffled collar. I like it! Depending how worn it can be a bit like a turtleneck, a stand collar, or in the silkier fabrics, the pinching for the ruffles almost looks like smocking or other details at the neckline.

The shirts are $270-$300. Hunting for something more affordable? Sezane has a similar blouse for $125. The Gretchen Scott tops at Halsbrook (in the midst of their closing sale, I believe!) have a similar vibe.

Boden

Boden has a number of blouses with interesting collars right now, but they keep featuring this one layered in fun ways (like with this sweater and blazer) so I'll focus on this one.

This one comes in a ton of colors as well as fabrics like double cloth, denim, as well as your basic cotton. They're $59-$99 depending on the colorway. I also like this “frill detail” top, as well as this lace trim detail blouse.

The tiny ruffled top is popular right now — you can find similar items at J.Crew, Sue Sartor, Sezane, and Tuckernuck.

The Fold

The Fold has a number of blouses with interesting collars right now. I like this silk one with circular geometric trim — I think it would look really lovely peeking out of a blazer or sweater.

The blouse is $425. Another interesting one: this satin blouse with interesting draping details at the neckline.

Hunting for something more affordable? I like this lace collared blouse at Ann Taylor. A similar vibe (but faux pearls instead of lace): this ivory blouse from Reiss.

Tuckernuck

This blouse is so popular that it comes in 16 different colors, patterns, and fabrics (including a few dresses!) at Tuckernuck. I would probably advise a very thin camisole beneath the blouse to address those low buttons on the placket.

The blouse is $108-$128, available in sizes XXS-XXXL. Other blouses with interesting collars that they carry right now include this stand collar blouse, and this ruffled collar. If you prefer a much more minimal look, do check out the Bessette button down — it has an interesting collar too but is very restrained. (They also offer this twofer sweater blouse with a nice ruffled collar detail.)

If you're looking for something similar to this one, I'm reminded of a lot of the high-necked popover blouses like the ones from Tucker NYC, J.McLaughlin, and this pretty one from Ann Taylor.
