Team Nigeria clinches third FC Bayern U-16 Youth Cup title

Team Nigeria emerged champions of the 2025 FC Bayern U-16 Youth Cup, defeating Team Rwanda 1-0 in the final of the World Finals at the Adi-Dassler-Sportplatz last Friday.

The two-day youth tournament, which ran from Thursday, October 16 to Friday, October 17, marked Nigeria’s third title triumph after previous wins in 2022 and 2023.

According to FC Bayern, the tournament, part of the club’s youth development initiative known as the FC Bayern Pathway, featured teams from Argentina, Canada, China, Rwanda, Japan, Germany, Nigeria, and the United States.

Club scouts at the FC Bayern Campus also handed out individual awards. Japan’s Ryuto Ono was named the tournament’s MVP, earning a place in the 2026 World Squad. Alfa Nsengumureyi of Rwanda won Best Goalkeeper while fellow Japanese player Hiro Yokoyama finished as top scorer with five goals.

All participating players will remain under FC Bayern’s international development radar, with their progress monitored for potential inclusion in future projects under the Pathway program.

After the competition, the youngsters attended the Bundesliga clash between Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund at the Allianz Arena.
